Here at Dr. Duck's office we try to
answer the age old question, "What makes a man get up at 4:30 A.M.,leave a warm bed and go out into the cold and dark just to go duck hunting?"
I've tried to explain it to family and friends. Perhaps the best answer is found in the photos of my hunting partners. The sharp light from their eyes and the grin on their faces are a much better answer than mere words. I know that when they are out in the blind or standing in flooded timber, these men are truly happy.
Happiness seems like such a rare quality these days.
When the retrievers are working and the ducks are flying, the cares of working a steady job, paying bills and generally the grind of just staying alive, retreat into their proper perspective.
So if you find the answer what drives us to go out in weather that finds saner men at home and instead draws us to the wild places, I hope that you will share it with me on a wild, windy dawn when the ducks are flying. Even if you can't eloquently state it, I can guarantee you...
